A few interesting one-liners

[1] Regular naps prevent old age, especially if you take them while driving.

[2] Having one child makes you a parent; having two you are a referee.

[3] Marriage is a relationship in which one person is always right and the other is the husband !

[4] I believe we should all pay our tax with a smile. I tried - but they wanted cash.

[5] A child's greatest period of growth is the month after you've purchased new school uniforms.

[6] Don't feel bad. A lot of people have no talent.

[7] Don't marry the person you want to live with, marry the one you cannot live without, but whatever you do, you'll regret it later.

[8] You can't buy love, but you pay heavily for it.

[9] Bad officials are elected by good citizens who do not vote.

[10] Laziness is nothing more than the habit of resting before you get tired.

[11] Marriage is give and take. You'd better give it to her or she'll take it anyway.

[12] My wife and I always compromise. I admit I'm wrong and she agrees with me.

[13] Those who can't laugh at themselves leave the job to others.

[14] Ladies first. Pretty ladies sooner.

[15] A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person.

[16] You're getting old when you enjoy remembering things more than doing them.

[17] It doesn't matter how often a married man changes his job, he still ends up with the same boss.

[18] Real friends are the ones who survive transitions between address books.

[19] Saving is the best thing. Especially when your parents have done it for you.

[20] Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools talk because they have to say something

[21] They call our language the mother tongue because the father seldom gets to speak !

[22] Man : Is there any way for long life ?
Dr : Get married.
Man : Will it help ?
Dr : No, but then the thought of long life will never come.

[23] Why do couples hold hands during their wedding ? It's a formality just like two boxers shaking hands before the fight begins !

[24] Wife : Darling today is our anniversary, what should we do ?
Husband : Let us stand in silence for 2 minutes.

[25] It's funny when people discuss Love Marriage vs Arranged.
It's like asking someone, if suicide is better or being murdered.

[26] There is only one perfect child in the world and every mother has it.

[27] There is only one perfect wife in the world and every neighbor has it !

'Sorry '
'Thanks '
'Happy Birthday da'
'Good Morning Uncle'
'Hai'
'I Love You' என்று …!

Olympic Laurels - Cheer up for 2012 London Olympics

Gold Medal champ Abhinav (10m Rifle).

Bronze Medal champs... Sushil(Wrestling) and Vijyendar(Boxing).

Olympic Accolades for India

Abhinav Bindra hit bull's eye in Beijing 2008 Olympics winning top honours in the air rifle event and India's first individual Olympic gold medal, sending his billion strong nation into celebration mode.

Adding to the joy, Yet another Bronze medal was secured by the champ wrestler Sushil Kumar.

Congratulations to Abhinav and Sushil !!!

And Middle-Weight freestyle pugilist(One who does Boxing) Vijendar is already on the medals list. Semi's match will decide whether he settles with a bronze or progress further. His quarter-finals match was a good feat. Good Luck Vijendar.

What Olympics means in India ? : An event happening once in 4 years with a sense of neglect at being forgotten in a cricket-crazy country. Many remember it only when it commences and still cant shake off the monopoly of cricket in their lives. Yes, This is India :-)

Touch-based illusion

Anyone who has seen an optical illusion can recall the quirky moment when you realize that the image being perceived is different from objective reality. Now, a team of scientists from MIT, Harvard and McGill has designed a new illusion involving the sense of touch, which is helping to glean new insights into perception and how different senses--such as touch and sight--work together.

Ambiguous visual images are fascinating because it is often difficult to imagine seeing them any other way--until something flips within the brain and the alternative perception is revealed. This phenomenon, known as perceptual rivalry, is of great interest to neuroscience. Because rivalrous illusions produce changes in perception that are independent of changes in the stimulus itself, they may help to understand how the brain gives rise to conscious experience.

WiTricity (Wireless Electricity)

http://web.mit.edu/isn/newsandevents/wireless_power.html

Imagine a future in which wireless power transfer is feasible: cell phones, household robots, mp3 players, laptop computers, and other portable electronics capable of charging themselves without ever being plugged in, freeing us from that final, ubiquitous power wire. Some of these devices might not even need their bulky batteries to operate. A team from MIT's Department of Physics, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and Institute for Soldier Nanotechnologies (ISN) has experimentally demonstrated an important step toward accomplishing this vision of the future. The team members are Andre Kurs, Aristeidis Karalis, Robert Moffatt, Prof. Peter Fisher, and Prof. John Joannopoulos (Francis Wright Davis Chair and Director of ISN), led by Prof. Marin Soljačić.

My hearty congratulations to this team.

Lovely trip...

Six souls were dancing in hearts to the nature's tune.
The eagerness of visiting a new place was so fond.
Bike ride on NH7 was definitely a new feel.
Pleasant climate was slowly corroding the mind with happiness.

No further explanation required to say what I am talking about...

You guessed it right.. Nandi hills trip on 21-june-2008.

Myths of new airport road being highly crowded was proven wrong.
Because we started at 5 '0'clock in the morning :-)..

Absolutely, the Bengalooru highways welcomed us with comfortable ride & serene surroundings.

First stunning beauty in the very morning was the Hebbal flyover.

After a while, for the first time, we saw couple of steel birds flying from Devanahalli International airport.
As we traveled further, we took a state highway towards Nandi hills (13°20′N, 77°39′E) on the west.

We could see the hilltop surrounded by clouds at a farther distance... like the ones what movies shows as heaven.

In couple of minutes ride, we reached the foothills and then began the ascending ride to the top.

As you climb, you start realising about the climate-suspense waiting for you. Its a splendid, gradual change.

The first group of people we saw was a BSF company doing a routine training in the hills. Probably, you may see more army and BSF activity in the weekdays.

Nandi hills welcomed us with a fort structure in place at the entrance.

Greenery all around, merry time for the mind. Shelled-out a few bucks for parking and entrance fee.
Long ago, Lord Cubbon had been using it as a resort and you could see the bungalow there.
No doubt about the beauty of the place, well maintained lawns, flower gardens, rocks, little temple, astonishingly a post office and describing what you see there is only limited to the vision of your mind.

Cute little place, but still worthy to spend a few hours there.
Poor-man's paradise in Bangalore.

Connectivity by public transport isn't that good.
You have KSTDC hotel for boarding and lodging.

If at all you are planning to be there, pack yourself with a few badminton rackets for unlimited fun.

The mother earth really blessed us Godspeed.
Nandi hills is still green in our minds.

Mariamman Kovil Consecration Ceremony - 11-May-2008

Tamilnadu is one of the southern most provincial state of the Indian subcontinent. If you start looking for the smallest village panchayat in Tamilnadu, you will hit the name "Puthuppalayam Agraharam".
This is the village I hail from. Rail road, Goddess temple, elementary and secondary school, few petty shops, panchayat union office, couple of powerloom factories and houses - this is all that is significant in this village.

For the first time, the goddess temple was renovated and consecration ceremony was performed in great grandeur.

I have uploaded video snap of the new goddess statue.

Deadlock - Explanation for laymen... Enjoy the humour

Nandi hills

I am yet to finish the detailed feel-how write-up of Nandhi hills trip.

The moment I stepped in the spot, I heard my phone ringing.
Attended the call, the other side " Good Morning sir, we offer you a special offer for personal loan, credit card....."... switched-off my cell phone. End of the bullshit.

Inspiring Kawasaki

Not sure how many of you heard of "Guy Kawasaki". He is really amazing in his speeches and presentations. This is one source of inspiration that triggers me to deliver something analogous to his style. You can see one of his presentation about "Art of the start" in his blog.

What a way to go !!!

First ever blogging experience !
